Welcome to Mrs Parks' Class Page

Hello and welcome to our class page. Here you can find out about all the fun times and exciting learning that we are doing in our class. If you have any ideas or would like to share something with our class then please let us know.

Welcome to the Summer Term. The children have settled very well again and are working hard. Our topics this half term are: Adventure Stories based on the children's book The Bog Baby by Jeanne Willis. In Maths: addition and subtraction on the number line and Multiplication and Division. Our Science Topics are Minibeasts and Healthy Exercise. In History the topics are The Royal Wedding and Holidays in 2018 compared to the past. In RE: Christianity linked to The Royal Wedding and Coding in Computing.

In PE the children are doing Athletics and getting ready for our Sports Day .  At the bottom of our class page I have put some websites that the children can use at home which will support the learning they are doing in class in phonics, grammar, spelling, English, Mathematics and Science.

Thank you

Mrs Parks

Things to remember each week:

Reading Book and Record every day.

Monday - Library

Wednesday - Homework is set and to be completed by the following Wednesday

                         - Show And Tell

Friday -  Birthday Celebration Assembly, Star of the Week and Courtesy of the Week (a slip will be sent home on Thursdays if your child has been chosen to receive a certificate)

Year One Phonics Screening

Your child will be taking part in the Year One Phonic screening the first week back after the Whit holidays (week beginning Monday 11th June 2018) Here are some useful websites for how you can support your child with their phonics. Reading every night is very important and a few minutes is enough. Encourage your children to look for 'Special Friends' and do their Fred Talk if they get stuck on a word. Little and often really is the key and will really help your child boost their reading along with practising the sounds on the Read, Write, Inc sound mat (please ask for another one if you need one).

The children had a big surprise this week when they found out what had happened to the fruit on the fruit trolley. We checked the CCTV camera and discovered that The Evil Pea has been up to his tricks!

World Book Day

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Day!

Shiver me timbers! Yo ho me hearties!

All aboard the Class 1/2 P learning ship!

Well done for winning Star Of The Week and Courtesy Of The Week. Well done to Nimra for winning the KS1 raffle prize for having her name in her jumper.

Well done Mrs Parks' Class on winning the 100% Attendance Award for this first week!  We get to keep Benedict Bear (or Benny Bear as we like to call him) for this week!

Happy 6th Birthday!
On Tuesday 13th September we enjoyed dressing up as Roald Dahl characters to celebrate Roald Dahl's 100th Birthday.

Take A Walk Around Our Classroom.

This half term our topic is Pirates! Arghhh! The children had a huge surprise when they found a Pirate's key on our climbing equipment.  In English the children have written their own Found posters. They received a mysterious letter from a ship's cabin girl called Nora asking them if they had found a very important key. The children very promptly decided to write letters to Nora and send her the key.  Can you spot your work?

In Maths this half term we are learning to read and write two and three digit numbers. We have been been investigating the addition and subtraction facts for numbers up to twenty and the different pairs of numbers that make ten, twenty and one hundred like 6+4 make 10. These are called Number Bonds. We are also learning about multiplication. Here are some of our Maths investigations ...

Our topic is Healthy Bodies. We have been experimenting and finding out about germs.

Which is the best way to wash germs off our hands?

Pirate Art Day.

What a fabulous week we've had in our class.

We've been very busy!

Learning Websites

Here are some links for the websites that the children use in class. Also have a look on the Learning Zone in the Parent's section on our website.

Tesco Farm To Fork Visit

Mrs Parks' Class visited Tesco Droylsden 'Farm To Fork'.  We have been learning about healthy eating in our Science topic and went to find out about healthy food in the supermarket.  We investigated the different types of fruit, their colours and which country they were grown in.  We looked at produce that is grown and made in Great Britain.
