Starting out in Reception
Parents of children who will be aged 4 before the 31st August are required to apply for a primary school place to commence in the September of that year through the Tameside admissions system which can be found here http://www.tameside.gov.uk/admissions . The Tameside have created a Starting Out booklet to assist parents with the application process.
The application process for the September in which your child will start Reception closes during January of the same year.
Aldwyn Primary School welcomes enquiries from parents/carers who would like to consider applying for a school place at Aldwyn and regular tours of the school are carried out. Please telephone 0161 370 3626 to make an appointment to visit.
School Transfers
It is generally in your child’s best interest to remain at the same school for the whole of the Key Stage and ideally, the whole of the primary or secondary phase.
A decision to move your child from one school to another should not be taken lightly and, in view of the upheaval it is likely to cause, should only be considered as a last resort. We do realise that, in certain circumstances, it may be necessary to transfer your child to another school, for example if you are moving house on a permanent basis and the distance would make it impossible to attend their current school. In these circumstances, however, it is not guaranteed that a place at Aldwyn will be available.
If you want to transfer your child to a school in Tameside, you must apply through Tameside Council even if you live in another area. If you want to apply for a school in another area, you will need to contact that area for further details of what you need to do.
If you are moving into Tameside or you wish to pursue a transfer, forms can be obtained from the school you are wanting to move from or to, the School Admissions Team Tel: 0161 342 3204/4068/3214 or you can download a Primary School Transfer Form below.
Please complete the form fully and send to the address on the form. This cannot be done electronically.
Parents will receive an offer of a school place through Tameside Council and this can take up to 20 school days.
Applying for a place in Nursery
Aldwyn Primary School offers part time nursery places to children in the September following their third birthday. Parents/carers are invited to put their child's name down for a place in nursery at any time after birth. Aldwyn Primary School follow the Tameside Admissions to nursery policy for offering places and over subscription criteria. At present we are able to offer 15 hour places for all children, and some 30 hour places for children who qualify for 30 hour funded provision.
