He then found his way down to our classroom and we all sang him some Christmas songs. 🎶 Santa loved them. 🎅 The children were incredibly excited. Santa then gave everyone a present to take home. 🎁🎅

🎄🎅Christmas Advent Calendars🎅🎄
1st December 2021
The first of December! What a special day it was in the classroom. The children couldn’t wait to tell us all about the morning’s excitement at home with Advent calendars being opened and some cheeky little elves arriving and getting up to mischief.
Miss Hutton bought a chocolate Advent calendar for the girls and boys to take turns to open. All the children’s names have gone into a pot and every day a name is taken out and then they get to open the door.
Also we are opening doors from the British Sign Language (BSL) PowerPoint Advent calendar to learn some Sign Language. This is a way of sharing the common BSL Christmas Signs by revealing a new Sign illustration via the Advent doors every day.

Phonics (Friday 26th November 2021)
Please find enclosed in your child's home school book a phonics pack that will help you support your child’s phonics learning at home. The pack includes sound cards and an information booklet for you to use as a prompt when practising reading and writing at home. The phonic cards can also be purchased off Amazon if you would like a sturdier set.
During this month you would normally be invited to attend a phonics presentation session where you would receive further information about how we teach phonics in school. Unfortunately this is not able to happen this year so the power point is now available for you to view via Tapestry and the school website.
Please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher if you require any further information.

🌺🌺🌺🌺 Remembrance Day 11.11.21 🌺🌺🌺🌺
🌺For Remembrance we talked about the meaning behind the day. We made poppies on lolly sticks 🌺 and painted poppy pictures 🌺. The children also drew and wrote about the people who are special to them and did a poppy maths lesson on a computer programme 🌺.
The children watched part of the live Remembrance Service 🌺 and completed the two minutes silence at 11 a.m. - not an easy task to keep quiet for that long when you are only four or five years of age!
Later in the day some of us were very lucky to be treated to a live trumpet solo performance 🎺 from Ted who had been inspired to make a trumpet in our Junk Modelling Area after watching the band in the Remembrance Service 🌺🎺.
🔍🔍🔍🔍 A mystery to solve 🔍🔍🔍🔍
We had a mystery to solve this afternoon 🔍 (10.11.21). When the boys and girls came back to the classroom from lunchtime there were large muddy footprints all over the floor. We conducted an investigation and followed the footprint trail and found that it led to a cave. We searched the classroom for clues and discovered lots of interesting objects which might help us like leaves, twigs, money and food.
Who could have made these footprints? Who built a cave in the classroom?
We sat down to discuss the situation and then all the children drew a picture of who they predicted it could have been. There were some very interesting suggestions including a bear, a dinosaur, a cat, a bird, a monster, a crocodile, a rabbit, a mouse and many more.
The investigation continues …………..
🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍
👢👢Welly Walk 👢👢
It was very exciting today (9.11.21). We all went on a Welly Walk to visit a secret forest to look for the signs of Autumn and the different types of terrain. The children noticed the leaves falling from the trees and two cheeky squirrels running around. They all sat quietly and heard the wind blowing through the forest and some birds singing. We walked through long wavy grass and squelched through some thick oozy mud around a river/pond. The children predicted that frogs 🐸, fish 🐟 and even a crocodile 🐊 lived in the water! We had lots of fun and managed not to get too muddy.

👏 👏🕺 💃 Dough Disco 💃🕺👏👏
This morning (4.10.21) the children had lots of fun joining in a Dough Disco session.

Children need to have strong muscles in their hands to enable them to write effectively. These simple, fun exercises help children prepare for writing.
🗣 💬 Pupil Voice Representative 💬 🗣
Ava has been elected to be Miss Hutton’s Class Pupil Voice Representative for the Autumn Term 2021.
On Monday the 4th of October, Ava attended the first meeting in the hall together with representatives from all the classes in the school.
What is Pupil Voice?
Pupil Voice is the name that we use at Aldwyn for the School Council. At the start of each school year, every class elects a child to be their Pupil Voice representative. As a member of Pupil Voice they represent the children in their class and their views. Working together, Pupil Voice continues to bring about change within Aldwyn and the wider community.

This week we found a big fruit mess on the floor in the classroom. We talked about who could have left the mess and wrote labels of who we thought it was. Umaima suggested it may be the girl form Handa’s Surprise so we shared the story together. The children found out facts about elephants 🐘 and drew a picture with labels of their favourite animal from the story.
The children have also love painting different fruits and we sorted healthy and unhealthy food. We all decided eating a lot of Miss Hutton’s favourite food - chips was not very healthy.
